What are the hours of work ?
If you are Full Time you will need to work a 37.5 hour week. Part time visiting officers work a minimum of 19 hours per week.
What times can I work?
We would expect you to work your hours during the late afternoon, evening and weekends as that is when people are in.
Are you paid petrol for travelling?
A petrol allowance is paid from your first visit until your last visit.
Is there an incentive package as well as a basic salary?
Yes - this will be discussed in full at the face to face interview.
What training will be given?
All new employees attend a one day induction, where you learn more about the company and the job itself. You are then allocated a trainer who will go out with you and give full on the job training. For visiting officers this will take a further two weeks.
Are you part of a team, if so how often do you meet them?
You are part of a team although you will be working the majority of time alone. You should attend team meetings every couple of months, and you will have regular contact with your manager.
How will I receive my work?
These jobs are home based, your work is posted to your home address and you will post your work back to our administration centre daily. All stationery is provided.
Is there an office I have to report to, or that I can visit if I need to?
We have two main offices, one in Darwen and one in Bristol, however as you are home based you will not be expected to attend these centres often.
What is job shadowing?
Before you are invited for an interview we give the opportunity to go out jobshadowing. This is when you meet an existing field officer and you go out to work with them for a couple of hours. It’s a great opportunity for you to get a feel for the position and get some hands on experience before you decide if the job is for you.
What other opportunities are there within TV Licensing?
There are opportunities for further development and these will be discussed with your manager on a one to one basis.
What holidays do you get?
You get 23 days holiday which is pro-rota for part timers.
Is there a pension scheme?
There is a contributory pension scheme which you can join after the probationary period.
